How we protect your privacy

Telehealth is an easy way to get care from the comfort of your own home. Telehealth has really grown in the last few years. It’s natural to have some concerns about privacy when it comes to sharing your personal health information online. But rest assured, at Sunny we take your privacy seriously. We follow the same laws as in-person healthcare providers, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

HIPAA requires health care providers to protect people’s personal health information. At Sunny, we use secure HIPAA-compliant technology and processes in everything we do. This includes everything from communicating with you to sending a prescription to the pharmacy. And everything in between. Some people ask about how photos are protected. Photos are considered personal health information. This means that any photos you upload in our secure platform— like your selfie and photo ID — are protected by the same rules as all your other health information.

Just like in person care, we are required by law to get your consent before sharing your personal health information with anyone who is not involved in your care. We also tell you about your privacy rights in our Notice of Privacy Practices. For example, you have the right to access your medical records. You also have the right to request that your information not be shared with certain providers.

At Sunny, we respect your privacy. You can trust that your personal health information is secure. If you have any questions about how we handle your information, send a message to your doctor. We’ll be happy to explain our policies and practices in more detail.
