What if I live in another state?

Sunny offers medication abortion in California, Maryland, Massachusetts, and New York. More states are coming soon! We provide abortion by mail to people 16 and older who are within the first 11 weeks of pregnancy. Medication abortion (abortion with pills) is safe and effective. And research shows that medication abortion by telehealth is as safe and effective as getting care in person.

Sometimes people ask us if they can get care with Sunny if they live in a different state. The short answer is — yes, they can! If you are physically present in one of the states we serve and provide a shipping address in that state, we can provide care. You do not need to be a resident of that state.

Getting abortion care in a different state than where you live can take more planning. There can also be extra expenses, like childcare, lost wages, and travel and lodging costs. There are groups that can help with information and support if you need to get an abortion out of state.

It is important to know that some states have laws against abortion. There can be legal risks if someone gets abortion pills and takes them in a state that bans abortion.
